Gun description

CZ P-10 S – subcompact power for concealed carry

Introduction: Small gun, big ambitions – ideal for EDC

The CZ P-10 S is a subcompact variant of the successful CZ P-10 striker-fired pistol series. It was introduced in 2019 in response to demand for a weapon for everyday concealed carry. Thanks to its very small dimensions (S = "Subcompact"), it is ideal for personal protection and also as a backup weapon for armed forces. Despite its shortened barrel and frame, the P-10 S retains the high performance and shooting comfort typical of the larger P-10 models.

Design and use - Surprisingly powerful and easy to handle

The P-10 S model offers a 12+1 round magazine for 9×19 mm cartridges, which is an excellent capacity in its subcompact category. The ergonomics of the grip and the distinctive texturing have been retained from the larger versions, making shooting surprisingly comfortable and accurate even with such a small pistol. The gun fits well in the hand; although the smaller dimensions mean that the little finger of the shooting hand may extend beyond the bottom of the grip, control remains confident and reliable. The P-10 S is primarily designed for quick self-defense shooting at short range – in an emergency situation, it provides the user with a reliable tool that they can rely on 100%. Nevertheless, thanks to its high-quality barrel, it also allows for accurate shooting at longer ranges, which is a nice bonus for such a small model.

Advantages and disadvantages of the CZ P-10 S

Advantages

  • Very compact dimensions and low weight suitable for everyday concealed carry
  • High capacity of 12+1 rounds for a subcompact
  • Retains the ergonomics and controllability of larger pistols
  • Significant grip roughening for reliability even with wet hands
  • Proven reliability even with a poor grip or in extreme conditions

Disadvantages

  • The shorter grip does not allow the little finger to rest, which can reduce shooting comfort
  • Higher recoil and flash due to the shorter barrel
  • The shorter sight radius makes it difficult to aim accurately at longer distances
  • No mounting rail – tactical accessories cannot be easily attached

Interesting fact: When launching the P-10 S, Česká zbrojovka emphasized that even a subcompact can offer the same user comfort as a full-fledged service weapon. The P-10 S model was also the basis for the P-10 S OR (Optics Ready) variant, which has a modified slide for mounting a miniature collimator sight – this is quite unique in this category and points to a growing trend of integrating optics even in the smallest EDC weapons.

Conclusion – the ideal partner for every day

The CZ P-10 S is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a compact, reliable, and modern pistol for everyday carry. Despite its size, it loses nothing in terms of ergonomics and performance, proving that a quality defensive weapon does not have to be large – it just has to be well designed.
