Gun description

PERUN 15: Czech modular system of the new generation

Introduction: When Czech design speaks the language of NATO

PERUN 15 is a 5.56×45 mm NATO assault rifle, which was developed as a domestic alternative to the globally widespread AR-15 platform. It was developed with the aim of offering the Czech armed forces a modern, modular, and reliable weapon capable of withstanding current and future conflicts. The result is a precision-engineered system with an emphasis on robustness, accuracy, and adaptability.

Origin and development

The PERUN 15 comes from the workshop of the Czech company FK BRNO Engineering, known primarily for the development of high-performance pistols and experimental calibers. The rifle was designed according to the requirements of modern combat scenarios – urbanized environments, rapid transitions at medium distances, and compatibility with NATO standards.

The name "Perun" refers to the Slavic god of thunder and war, which subtly reflects the character of the weapon – powerful, fast, unyielding.

Features and advantages

Modularity

The PERUN 15 is built as a fully modular platform. It offers interchangeable barrels of various lengths, compatibility with standard AR-15 components, and easy mounting of accessories thanks to a full M-LOK rail and Picatinny rail.

Accuracy

A free-floating barrel and high-quality manufacturing ensure accurate shooting even under higher loads. The weapon is capable of maintaining sub-MOA accuracy when using high-quality ammunition and optics.

Durability

The weapon was designed for demanding climatic and combat conditions. The materials used (aircraft aluminum, steel) and surface treatments protect against corrosion, dust, and wear.

Practical use

The PERUN 15 is suitable for:

  • Police and armed forces – as a tactical carbine with the option of individual configuration
  • Sport shooters – for dynamic disciplines such as IPSC, 3-Gun, etc.
  • Civil defense and hobby use – in semi-auto versions (category B in the Czech Republic)

Interesting facts

  • Manufactured in the Czech Republic – the weapon is completely designed and manufactured in the Czech Republic
  • Compatibility – can be used with standard Magpul magazines, Trijicon optics, Aimpoint, etc.
  • Quiet operation – direct impingement or piston version, depending on configuration

FAQ – what shooters want to know

Is the PERUN 15 available for civilian use in the Czech Republic?

Yes, in semi-auto versions for firearms license holders (category B), usually with a 16" barrel.

Can the barrel and calibers be changed?

Yes, the system allows for replacement of both the barrel and upper. Variants in .300 BLK or 7.62×39 mm calibers are in development or available to order.

What is the difference compared to the classic AR-15?

The PERUN 15 has a more robust upper construction, a more sophisticated handguard, and higher durability – structurally closer to military-grade carbines than civilian ARs.

Conclusion: A domestic alternative without compromise

The PERUN 15 proves that it is not necessary to import a top-of-the-line modular weapon. The Czech design offers reliability, accuracy, and compatibility with NATO standards, making it a suitable alternative to classic AR-15 systems not only for professionals but also for demanding civilian users.
